Barry M. Maloney has been president of Worcester State University since 2011, focusing on student success, affordability, and campus development. Under his leadership, the university has improved graduation rates, doubled fundraising, and tripled its endowment. Maloney has overseen major campus renovations, including the construction of Sheehan Hall and the Wellness Center, significantly enhancing the student experience.
He is committed to diversity and inclusion, launching the “Five Points of Action toward a More Inclusive Campus Climate,” which has increased diversity among both students and faculty. Maloney’s financial stewardship has kept tuition and fees for commuting students affordable, just over $10,000 annually.
Worcester State has earned recognition as a “Best in the Northeast” by The Princeton Review and a top regional school by U.S. News & World Report under his leadership. Maloney also serves on local community boards and statewide educational committees. He holds degrees from the University of Maine and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
